Gifts

We have been graced with so many gifts in our lives that in lieu of any presents,
we would appreciate any charitable donations made in honor of our upcoming ceremony.

As our friends and family, you know that Tuesday and Louie the Pugs are our entire universe. Without them, our little family would be incomplete. Both of our furbabies are rescues and before coming into our home had very difficult lives. Because of this, we have become very passionate about pug rescues and animal welfare.

Curly Tail Pug Rescue offers safe haven to surrendered, puppy mill rescues, homeless, unwanted, sick, or injured Pugs. The kindness that they show these beautiful creatures should be the standard for which we treat everyone in this life. As a not-for-profit, their only means of income is donors and fundraisers. Every Pug that comes into their care receives all the medical attention he/she needs, the love they were lacking, and the warmth they were craving. These volunteers consistently go above and beyond to make sure each of these loving little clowns are placed into permanent, safe homes. Kristen personally donates ten percent of every Tuesday's Ties sales to this inspiring animal haven.

Another foundation that lives close to our heart is the Alzheimer's Association. Kristen's Papa, Paul Halbert battled with Alzheimer's for many years, just like the more than 5 million Americans that live with this disease. For our family, we were shaken by how quickly things would escape him. Loss of speech, memories, names, and the day to day activities that made Papa - Papa.

But he was known as a "troublemaker" who would love to make jokes, silly sounds and faces to have everyone around him laughing and comfortable. We miss him every day and despite the challenges that Alzheimer's presented he never lost his sense of humor and loving nature. We know that Papa would have experienced such joy to see his grandchildren grow up and get married so in an effort to honor him and the life of family that he lead we strive to contribute to the continued research of the treatment and cure for Alzheimer's.

Through Greg's professional work with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families over the years, he has come to know just how courageous and strong such people are. With that being said, there is still much work to be done to garner a better understanding of intellectual disabilities, including why they happen and the capabilities of those affected by them.

Autism Speaks dedicates itself to ongoing research into the causes of, treatments for, and even the prevention of Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders. They also encourage new and innovative supports that assist in bringing meaning to an Autistic person's daily life - something Greg works to see every day. Moreover, this organization works to help end the stigma - which is often heartbreaking - that comes along with Autism and other related intellectual disabilities. It is our hope and belief that, one day, those with Autism and the like will have unquestioned access to the very same quality of life you and I may often take for granted.
